Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan, the chief of Bhim Army and Azad Samaj Party, was shot at by unidentified assailants in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on June 28, 2023. He was rushed to a hospital where his condition was reported to be stable.

According to the police, the incident took place around 4 pm when Mr. Ravan was returning from a public meeting in Gangoh town. A car with tinted windows overtook his vehicle and opened fire at him. He sustained a bullet injury in his shoulder and was taken to a nearby hospital by his supporters.
Mr. Ravan, who is also known as Chandrashekhar, is a prominent Dalit leader and activist who has been vocal against the BJP government and its policies.
